Choosing Your Surgeon
If you have a Foot and Ankle problem, you should seek the help of a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon. This way you will ensure your treatment is conducted by a medically qualified doctor, who has undergone specialist and regulated training in Orthopaedic surgery, and has then subspecialised in Foot and Ankle surgery.
To avoid doubt, please do not confuse an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a Podiatric Surgeon. A podiatric surgeon does not possess a medical degree, and has not been trained or regulated by the Royal College of Surgeon's.
Equally, do not be impressed by an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a long list of specialist areas (example Shoulder, Hip, Knee and Foot and Ankle). Foot and Ankle surgery has become a dedicated specialty over the last 10 years, and true specialist's like myself are able to concentrate our expertise and stay abreast of the continued developments, and thereby offer a truly specialist service.
